Highlights

  • Revenue leadership in 2025 shifted toward companies with recurring digital ecosystems, where subscriptions, live-service pipelines, and platform margins outweighed one-time game launches.
  • Console giants, mobile publishers, and platform operators now compete in the same revenue arena, reflecting a market where technology infrastructure and distribution hold as much weight as blockbuster IP.
  • The companies at the top of the 2025 revenue ladder are prioritizing cross-platform continuity, long-tail monetization, and global portfolio diversification over short-cycle hit-driven growth.

2025 solidified video games as one of the most lucrative entertainment sectors in the world, with revenue expanding across consoles, PC, and especially mobile platforms. From games that broke records to services that converted millions of players into subscribers, these highest revenue gaming companies of 2025 have reshaped how audiences engage with interactive entertainment.

We ranked the top ten gaming companies based on their performance in the previous financial year (FY 2024).

10. Roblox Corporation - $3.6 Billion

Roblox’s revenue profile is different from traditional publishers as it is a user-generated content (UGC) platform, but its financial performance places it among the highest revenue gaming companies of 2025. Rather than relying on first-party games, Roblox captures value through its massive ecosystem and payout margin structure. Growth in international markets, maturing creator studios, and increased session time among older demographics were key drivers this year.

9. MiHoYo (Hoyoverse) - $4.26 Billion+

HoYoverse solidified its presence in 2025 through sustained earnings from Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and other games. HoYoverse’s success continues to stem from long-tail monetization rather than one-time launches, with strong revenue performance across Asia, Europe, and North America. The company is looking to release several new titles in the coming years to expand its portfolio.

8. Take-Two Interactive - $5.6 Billion

Take-Two remains one of the top gaming publishers by revenue thanks to a powerful combination of premium franchises and durable live-service monetization. Based on the company’s financial filings, FY2025 revenue was anchored by NBA 2K, ongoing engagement in GTA Online, and steady catalog performance across Rockstar and 2K. Even in a pre-GTA VI full-launch year, Take-Two experiences high revenue numbers. The upcoming game is expected to be one of the biggest releases in gaming history once it releases in 2026.

7. Epic Games - $6.02 Billion

Epic Games maintains a strong presence in the industry due to Fortnite, which is one of the most successful games of all time. A significant portion of Epic’s revenue also comes from Unreal Engine licensing, marketplace fees, and partner royalties, positioning the company not just as a publisher but as a core technology vendor in the global gaming companies' revenue ranking. Epic’s roadmap for 2026 includes Unreal upgrades for studios and expanded support for cross-platform live experiences in Fortnite.

6. Electronic Arts - $7.3 Billion

Electronic Arts’ FY2025 revenue performance places it firmly among the top gaming publishers by revenue globally. The company’s results were driven by EA Sports FC, Apex Legends live-services, and microtransactions. The company is currently experiencing a $55B buyout, which was recently approved by shareholders.

5. NetEase Games - $11.5 Billion

NetEase remains one of the most influential companies due to its massive mobile revenue and investments in other key companies. The company also expanded its overseas studio collaborations and console-PC crossover releases, improving its footprint beyond mainland Asia. In 2025, NetEase invested in global IP partnerships, esports ecosystem development, and transmedia initiatives. Live-service games like Where Winds Meet and Naraka: Bladepoint continue to deliver stellar results for the company.

4. Nintendo - $11.6 Billion

Nintendo’s FY2025 revenue highlights its long-term dominance in the handheld gaming industry. First-party software sales and the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 drove the company’s earnings. The Switch 2 is now Nintendo’s fastest-selling console following its launch on June 11, 2025. It sold over 3.5M units in just four days since its release. The handheld console is expected to continue driving high revenue for the foreseeable future.

3. Microsoft Gaming - $23.5 Billion

Microsoft Gaming’s FY2025 results, as reflected in corporate earnings communications and division reporting, position it among the leading gaming companies by revenue in 2025. Xbox Game Pass alone generated over $5B in revenue, making it one of the most lucrative subscriptions in the gaming industry right now.

2. Tencent Interactive Entertainment - $27.1 Billion

Tencent continues to be one of the most dominant forces in the gaming landscape, supported by a portfolio that stretches across mobile, PC, and international publishing investments. Based on the company’s financial reports, FY2025 revenue was largely driven by Honor of Kings, PUBG Mobile, and consolidated earnings from partner studios and minority investments. In 2025, the company expanded publishing relationships, invested in global development hubs, and strengthened its focus on AI.

1. Sony Interactive Entertainment - $31.7 Billion

Sony tops the Global gaming companies revenue ranking for 2025, powered by strong PlayStation hardware cycles, blockbuster first-party titles like Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Yotei. 2026 could be one of Sony’s biggest years ever, with Wolverine and Saros being two of the most anticipated titles from the company. The PlayStation 5 is also deep into its life cycle, and we could get a PlayStation 6 announcement next year.
