Assassination Classroom Season 2 Hits Netflix in June 2026
Assassination Classroom season 2 arrives on Netflix US in June, wrapping up Koro-sensei's story a month after season 1 launched on the platform.
Highlights
- Assassination Classroom season 2 launches on Netflix on June 1, completing the anime’s 47-episode catalogue.
- Netflix’s rollout follows season 1’s May release, expanding availability across the U.S., Europe, and other regions.
- The classic anime series still remains a streaming-era favorite, blending sci-fi action, dark comedy, and emotional storytelling.
Netflix is expanding its Assassination Classroom catalog on June 1, releasing the second season of the cult sci-fi anime across the U.S., Canada, and other regions. Netflix added season 1 of the series on May 1, 2026, with season 2 following a one-month gap period.
Assassination Classroom season 2 will follow the recent season 1 rollout strategy, including regions from Latin America, South Africa, Australia/New Zealand, and Europe. Assassination Classroom’s two seasons are already available on Netflix in markets that include Southeast Asia and East Asia.
After June 1, Netflix will have the complete library of Assassination Classroom with all 47 episodes available globally. Based on Yusei Matsui's manga, the Assassination Classroom second season originally aired from January to June, 2016.
Why Assassination Classroom Stands Out in Anime Streaming
Netflix licensing the anime globally a decade after its original run reflects Assassination Classroom’s viability in the modern streaming era. Netflix has been increasingly relying on classic anime library acquisitions, including titles like Detective Conan, alongside new exclusives to drive engagement.
Assassination Classroom is one of the most popular sci-fi thriller anime with an 8.07 MAL score. The manga centers on Class 3-E of Kunugigaoka Junior High School and an alien homeroom teacher named Koro Sensei. The students are tasked to assassinate Koro-sensei before graduation, in order to save Earth from destruction.
Despite its absurd premise, Assassination Classroom became recognized for balancing high-velocity action and dark comedy aesthetics with themes of mentorship and personal growth. Season 2 follows after the Class 3-E returns from summer vacation, still hunting Koro-sensei, while facing interference from Gakuhou Asano, the school’s principal.
Assassination Classroom's second and final season was simulcast by Funimation. In 2016, Anime Limited licensed the season in the UK via Crunchyroll, and following Sony's Crunchyroll acquisition in 2022, the entire franchise moved to the platform from Funimation.
Before coming to Netflix globally, the Assassination Classroom anime streaming landscape was spread across multiple platforms, including Crunchyroll and Adult Swim’s Toonami block. However, Netflix's acquisition consolidates the series on a platform with a significantly larger general-audience reach than dedicated anime services.
