Taiwan-based Muse Asia has officially confirmed it will bring "Assassination Classroom The Movie: Everyone’s Time" to Indian theaters in 2026, marking another step in the distributor's push across Asian markets.

The film, commemorating the franchise's 10th anniversary, opens in Japan on March 20, 2026. An Indian release is confirmed for 2026, though Muse hasn't specified an exact date as of October 2025. The company will distribute the film across 10 Asian territories, including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and India. No North American or European releases have been announced.

New Movie Adapts Unadapted Manga Material With Original Storyline

The original Assassination Classroom anime series aired 22 episodes in 2015 and 25 episodes in 2016, adapted from Yūsei Matsui's manga. The new Assassination Classroom film will incorporate story arcs and episodes not covered in the original TV anime, blending unadapted manga material with new content confirmed by Matsui himself. The project serves as both a commemorative release and a continuation of the main storyline following Class 3-E and their target, the tentacled teacher Koro-sensei.

Director Masaki Kitamura is helming the project at Studio Lerche, working with screenplay writer Makoto Uezu and returning voice actors from the original series. "I worked hard to preserve the atmosphere that Director Kishi has cherished, while adding a new dimension and a powerful impact that is unique to the theatrical version," Kitamura said.

The theatrical release anchors broader anniversary programming, including a nationwide rebroadcast of all episodes and a special radio program. The strategy reflects growing industry interest in leveraging established anime properties for regional theatrical distribution, particularly as streaming platforms have expanded Asian audiences for Japanese animation. Recent Indian streaming releases with Tamil, Telugu and Hindi dubs via Crunchyroll, JioHotstar and MX Player in 2024 have bolstered the franchise's South Asian presence.

Muse's expanding footprint comes as anime distributors increasingly look beyond traditional markets. The company's Asian network now spans Southeast Asia and South Asia, regions where theatrical releases of Japanese animation have gained commercial traction in recent years. After the recent success of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle and Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc, India has emerged as a strategic focus market for anime theatrical distribution alongside more established territories.
