- BLACKPINK's Deadline EP sold 1.46 million copies on its first day, setting a new Hanteo record for a girl group.
- The release ends a three-year hiatus, with title track GO reaching No. 1 on iTunes in 32 countries.
- First-day numbers place BLACKPINK back among 2026's top million-selling acts alongside ENHYPEN, whose THE SIN: VANISH moved 1.65 million copies on day one.
BLACKPINK's third EP, Deadline, sold 1.46 million copies on its first day, according to South Korea's Hanteo Chart. The figure is both a personal best for the group and the largest single-day total ever recorded for a K-pop girl group on Hanteo.
BLACKPINK’s Record-Breaking Return with Deadline After Hiatus
The EP dropped on Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. KST, ending a three-year-and-five-month gap since the group's last studio album, Born Pink (2022). The 1,461,785 copies sold on day one surpass the previous girl group record of 1.37 million, set by aespa's My World in 2023. BLACKPINK is now the first female act to post multiple debut days above the million-copy mark.
Beyond physical sales, Deadline reached No. 1 on the iTunes Top Albums chart in 32 countries. Its title track, GO, climbed streaming charts in South Korea and internationally and hit the top of YouTube's trending list after its music video went live. BLACKPINK's return comes as the group expands its reach, having recently crossed 100 million YouTube subscribers.
The four members wrote the lyrics alongside collaborators including Coldplay's Chris Martin, with production from Teddy and Cirkut. The track blends trap, EDM, and hip-hop elements and is sung primarily in English.
Its music video crossed 21 million views within 24 hours of release. GO is currently trending at No. 5 on YouTube India's Trending Music chart.
Deadline contains five tracks in total. Beyond GO, the EP includes the pre-released EDM single Jump, followed by Me and My, Champion, and Fxxxboy. Early streaming data shows the album picking up momentum on Melon and Spotify, with GO ranking inside Melon's Top 100 as of 10 a.m. KST on its release day.
Where Deadline fits in 2026's K-pop sales race
BLACKPINK's opening-day numbers arrive during a stretch of strong album sales across K-pop. IFPI's 2025 year-end rankings listed several K-pop acts moving multi-million units worldwide. Earlier in 2026, ENHYPEN's THE SIN: VANISH sold over 1.65 million copies on day one, one of the year's highest single-day totals so far.
The scale of Deadline's debut puts BLACKPINK firmly back among the top-selling acts of 2026. For YG Entertainment, the results validate a long gap between releases. Each BLACKPINK member built individual careers during the hiatus, but the group's commercial pull as a unit appears undiminished.
With a world tour already mapped out, the sales trajectory for Deadline's full cycle could push well beyond its opening day.
