Blinkit has broadened its quick-commerce offerings with a new “Comics & Manga” category that lets readers order popular Japanese and Western titles for doorstep delivery in as little as 10 minutes. The app, known for groceries and essentials, now includes manga series such as Naruto, One Piece, My Hero Academia, Blue Lock, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Demon Slayer, catering to India’s growing anime readership boom.

Blinkit Aggressively Prices Manga to Compete With Amazon

The service stocks officially licensed books from major publishers including Viz Media, Simon & Schuster, and Penguin India. It is currently operational in select cities, with rollout plans dependent on local retail partnerships and regional demand. Pricing follows MRPs but stays competitive with popular online stores

Blinkit’s move signals India’s increasing convergence between pop culture fandom and rapid commerce. Beyond manga, the app also lists Marvel and DC comics, along with premium gaming hardware like the PlayStation 5 console, DualSense Edge controller, and select PS5 games under its “Tech & Gaming” verticals.

The addition of manga illustrates how quick-commerce platforms are diversifying beyond daily essentials into entertainment segments to capture passionate niche audiences. With rising anime viewership and short delivery demand reshaping urban media consumption, Blinkit’s latest venture may redefine how Indian fans access collectibles, comics, and Japanese content in real time.

Anime and manga culture have seen a massive surge in popularity across India over the past few years, evolving from a niche community into a mainstream entertainment segment. The growth of streaming platforms, theatrical anime releases, and quick-commerce availability has made Japanese media more accessible than ever. Indian audiences, especially Gen Z and millennials, have embraced anime for its mature storytelling, emotionally rich plots, and unique art styles. This cultural shift is evident in the rise of anime-themed merchandise, fan conventions, and even dedicated educational initiatives exploring anime and game design as careers.

Nowhere is this momentum clearer than in the recent box-office phenomenon Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle. The film has earned more than INR 83 crore in just a month, making it India’s highest-grossing anime movie ever, eight times bigger than the previous record-holder, Suzume. It even outperformed major Bollywood titles during its run, from Jolly LLB 3 to They Call Him OG. The movie’s Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu dubbed versions drew packed theatres nationwide, showing how deeply Japanese animation now resonates with Indian audiences. The success of Infinity Castle has not only proven the commercial viability of anime in India but also opened the door for upcoming releases based on One Piece, Chainsaw Man, and Jujutsu Kaisen to enter mainstream cinema.
