Highlights

  • HYBE expands its Dark Moon universe with Witch of Yerasah, a werewolf-centric narrative tied to &TEAM.
  • The project adopts a transmedia strategy.
  • The release builds on Dark Moon’s growing success, following The Blood Altar anime’s strong reception.

HYBE announced an expansion of its original webnovel IP Dark Moon with a new installment, DARK MOON: The Witch of Yerasah, in collaboration with K-pop group &TEAM. The project builds on HYBE’s Dark Moon universe, which debuted in 2022 collaborating with ENHYPEN.

It serves as Dark Moon: Altar of the Moon prequel and Dark Moon: Grey City sequel, with both narratives featuring the titular outskirt town of Yerasa. DARK MOON: The Witch of Yerasah will explore a werewolf-focused narrative, which predates the vampire-werewolf dynamics shown in previous web novels.

The announcement on May 18 introduced four cross-format media for Witch of Yerasah with web novel, artwork, MV, and video formats. HYBE said in a press release that their cross-format or ‘trans-media’ strategy is aimed at maximizing fan experience of the single story in a multi-dimensional way.

The DARK MOON: The Witch of Yerasah web novel was released on May 20 on WEBTOON’s Naver Series. Simultaneously, it will be published across multiple e-book platforms, including Simoa, Line Manga, and Ebook Japan.

Dark Moon Witch of Yerasah: New Entry Shifts Narrative Focus

DARK MOON: The Witch of Yerasah explores themes of fate and self-determined love. Unlike previous Dark Moon installments, which intertwined vampire and werewolf storylines, The Witch of Yerasah centers entirely on werewolf characters, shifting the narrative.

According to HYBE, the new series centers on the journey of a group of werewolves trying to break away from the shackles of fate and destiny. Serving as both prequel and sequel gives The Witch of Yerasah a narrative weight within the wider Dark Moon franchise.

The company also highlighted its cross-format rollout, which is first in the franchise. Prior to the web novel, on May 18, the Dark Moon YouTube channel dropped the first episode of its animated video content. It is scheduled for a total of seven episodes, each releasing on every Monday.

The visual artwork, Blood Print, tied to The Witch of Yerasah video content, will start rolling out every Friday from May 22 on the official Dark Moon X channel. A compiled music video previously dropped on May 11, capturing the mythical world of the web novel.

The Witch of Yerasah multi-platform release aligns with the measurable success of HYBE's transmedia strategy. The previous anime adaptation of Dark Moon: The Blood Altar, which premiered Jan 9, 2026, earned a 4.6/5 rating on Crunchyroll.

HYBE previously emphasized that the Dark Moon franchise is getting new audiences “through the animation” and other media offerings. The company also added that they are actively planning to expand HYBE's original IP across various formats, an initiative observed in the distribution strategy for the new title, DARK MOON: The Witch of Yerasah.
