- This success reinforces Netflix’s focus on anime adaptations as global, franchise-driven content.
Netflix’s live-action One Piece season 2 has debuted at No. 1 on the platform’s Global Top 10 TV shows chart. According to Netflix Tudum rankings for the week of March 9 - 15, 2026, the series entered global charts shortly after its March 10 release.
Netflix’s Global Top 10 ranks the series based on the total viewing hours of the platform. The second season, titled One Piece: Into the Grand Line, has cumulated 136.2M total viewing hours globally within six days.
However, despite its global demand, the second season of the live-action One Piece still recorded fewer views (16.8M) in comparison to One Piece live-action season 1’s 18.5M views within four days. The popularity of season 2 has also driven season one into the global ranking chart. Live-action One Piece season 1 currently ranks seventh on the Global Top 10 TV shows chart with 3.6M views in the mentioned week.
The new season, Into the Grand Line, adapts five arcs that lead to the crucial Alabasta Arc from the One Piece manga. Alabasta Arc, which will be continued in season three of the series, features the fight between Mr. 0 (aka Crocodile) and Luffy, and many more crucial plot points such as Portgas D. Ace’s first appearance.
Live-Action One Piece Season 2 Sustains Franchise Momentum
The One Piece anime, based on Eiichiro Oda’s successful manga, has been a crowd-pleaser since the start of its serialization in 1997. The manga now has 600M copies in sales and has become the most-sold manga of all time.
The anime series, which has been airing for 25 years, is widely considered the most-watched anime. The live-action series is now the most-watched series across 44 countries. Furthermore, One Piece live-action is the only English-language series to debut at the top spot in Japan. Both seasons of the series debuted at No. 1 in Netflix’s Weekly Top 10 in Japan.

The second season was also a critical test for Netflix’s long-term investment in anime adaptations, following its mixed history of live-action. The series benefits from a built-in international fanbase, enabling strong opening-week engagement across regions.
After the success of live-action One Piece, the streamer has doubled down on anime adaptations, positioning them as cross-media tentpoles that travel beyond language barriers. Unlike traditional Western originals, anime-based productions offer pre-existing IP value across Asia, Europe, and North America, regions that now account for a growing share of Netflix’s subscriber base.
