Highlights

  • One Piece Volume 114 unseated Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo with a landslide 612,629 copies sold in week one.
  • The manga’s dominance is fueled by the hit Netflix live-action season 2 and the upcoming Elbaph Arc anime.
  • Gege Akutami’s alien-themed sequel maintains a strong second place as it concludes its 25-chapter run.

The new-gen manga has officially been unseated by one of the biggest franchises in pop culture history. After a massive run dominating sales figures, the Jujutsu Kaisen franchise has lost its number-one spot on the manga charts to Eiichiro Oda's unstoppable One Piece. According to the latest data from Oricon sales tracking charts, One Piece has defeated Jujutsu Kaisen by an absolute landslide. Released on March 4, One Piece Volume 114 easily took the top spot, amassing a staggering 612,629 copies sold in its very first week.

In stark contrast, the highly anticipated sequel series, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Volume 2, was knocked down to the number two position. While pushing 194,752 copies is an incredibly impressive feat for almost any other franchise, it simply wasn't enough to hold the line against the sheer momentum of the Straw Hat crew.

This massive volume launch is just the tip of the iceberg for One Piece fans this year. The manga's dominance coincides with a massive multimedia push for the franchise. On March 10, Netflix's live-action adaptation returned with its universally acclaimed second season, One Piece: Into the Grand Line. The hit show’s latest season follows the crew as they evade threats ranging from high-ranked Marines to the villains of Baroque Works.

If that wasn't enough to keep the hype train rolling, there are only weeks left before new episodes of the anime arrive. Fans are eagerly awaiting the beginning of the series' adaptation of the hit Elbaph Arc, which is slated to kick off on April 5.

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo: Gege Akutami's Alien Sequel

While the original Jujutsu Kaisen manga by Gege Akutami concluded in 2024 after 30 volumes, the franchise returned to Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2025 with Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo. Written by Akutami and illustrated by Yuji Iwasaki, the fast-favorite sequel picks up nearly seven decades after the events of the Culling Games.

Taking a massive creative swing, Modulo places an alien protagonist named Marulu Val Vol Yelvori, affectionately known as Maru, at the center of its story. Representing the Simurian species, Maru partners with Jujutsu Sorcerers Tsurugi and Yuka Okkotsu, the grandchildren of Maki Zenin and Yuta Okkotsu, to test species compatibility. The hit follow-up series just recently wrapped its 25-chapter run with an emotional finale titled "A Bright Future," leaving fans eagerly awaiting the release of its third and final collected volume.

Despite the drop to second place, Jujutsu Kaisen remains a colossal force in the global entertainment world. However, with One Piece drawing millions in its monumental final saga, the battle for manga supremacy in 2026 is clearly heavily weighted toward the Grand Line.
