Nike Japan Teases Official One Piece Sneaker Collaboration

Nike Japan’s cryptic message, posted on August 6, appears to be teasing its long-rumored collaboration with One Piece. The post, shared on the brand’s X account, showed a stone tablet styled after the series’ Poneglyphs, engraved with the Nike Swoosh. The accompanying caption read “Romance Dawn - The Dawn of the Adventure.”

The caption is a reference to the title of Eiichiro Oda’s debut manga chapter, titled Romance Dawn - The Dawn of the Adventure. In One Piece, Poneglyphs are indestructible stone slabs that carry the series’ hidden history, a detail that ties Nike’s cryptic marketing directly to the source. 

Soon after, fans traced the tablet’s imagery to Cat Street in Tokyo’s Harajuku-Jingumae district, according to a widely shared X post from user @dddict0407. Another X user, @AndyCollectz, also shared a translation of the message sign, reading, “I have arrived here and am leading Nike to 5656.” The number "5656" is commonly recognized as Japanese wordplay for "Gomu Gomu," directly referencing Monkey D. Luffy's Gomu Gomu no Mi Devil Fruit from One Piece. 

The message aligns with previous reports that Nike Sportswear is preparing for a One Piece collection centered on the Air Max Plus silhouette. Sneaker Files reported in December 2025 that three colorways, each based on a Devil Fruit power, including a Gomu Gomu model, were headed for a Fall 2026 release.

Nike x One Piece Sneaker Collection: What We Know So Far

Although Nike has yet to announce the full lineup, previous product leaks and retailer listings point to the three Air Max Plus colorways that are widely expected to headline the collection. Their designs closely reference iconic One Piece characters.

Gomu Gomu Model (IR0968-500): Inspired by Monkey D. Luffy’s rubber powers, in a Space Purple and Atomic Green colorway, according to listings. Fullress reported the model is to be priced at $180 USD.

Mera Mera Model (IW1283-800): Themed around Portgas D. Ace’s fire abilities, this Air Max Plus is shown in Brilliant Orange and Healing Jade tones. The reported price is the same as the Luffy one.

Ope Ope Model (IW1282-600): Based on Trafalgar Law’s devilfruit, the Ope Ope Air Max Plus features a Very Berry and Green Quartz colorway. It is also priced at $180.

Previously, in July, TCG and collectibles leaker sources also reported on the Nike x One Piece collaboration. @Meisy_TCG_News reported on July 22 that the rumored collection will also include a promo card from One Piece Card Game and apparel, along with sneakers.

However, none of the reported or rumored information is verified as of writing. Neither Nike nor One Piece production committee members have confirmed any details about the upcoming Nike x One Piece collection.
