Highlights

  • Epic adds in-island transaction previews for UEFN creators using V-Bucks.
  • Fortnite creators have earned $722M across 260K UEFN islands.
  • Creators get 100% revenue through 2026 before shifting to a 50% share.

Epic Games has launched a preview of in-island transaction tools for Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN), allowing creators to test selling items inside their Fortnite islands. The feature uses V-Bucks and will roll out fully next month, enabling creators to publish monetized islands and track sales in the Creator Portal.

The update arrives as Fortnite’s creator ecosystem continues to grow rapidly. Players have logged 11.2B hours across more than 260K UEFN-built islands, generating over $722M in payouts. Epic said the new system is meant to give creators more commercial control.

UEFN in-island purchases introduce new monetization options

Once live, creators will receive 100% of the V-Bucks value earned through 2026, followed by a shift to a 50% revenue share. Epic said the initial full payout will help creators test and refine their monetized experiences.

Epic Games also updated its rules on what can be sold, permitting gameplay items, consumables, bundles, random rewards, and paid-access areas. Standard Fortnite cosmetics such as outfits, emotes, and vehicles are not allowed. A new analytics tool will provide data on sales and player activity.

The update aligns with Epic’s goal of turning Fortnite into a broader creation and commerce platform. By expanding UEFN’s tools, Epic aims to give developers more data and more ways to build sustainable projects.

For creators, the transaction preview offers a path to long-term revenue inside Fortnite. Epic expects the added monetization tools and analytics to strengthen the creator ecosystem and reinforce Fortnite’s role in user-generated content.
