Ubisoft's next Far Cry and Splinter Cell games are reportedly taking different paths. New claims from Ubisoft leaker @AgaiinTx (Rogue) suggest Far Cry 7 is embracing extraction gameplay, while the Splinter Cell Remake is staying focused on classic stealth. Ubisoft has not confirmed the reported details yet.
The leak comes as Ubisoft continues major restructuring.
The publisher recently announced layoffs affecting about 380 employees, alongside the closure of Ubisoft Winnipeg and Ubisoft Belgrade. At Ubisoft Barcelona, 51 developers are being laid off. Employees there have announced six strikes between June 30 and July 16, 2026, demanding career progression, job security, and the return of a hybrid work model.
Far Cry 7 Could Bring the Biggest Change in Series History
According to Rogue, Far Cry 7 will feature a "high-stakes PvEvP scavenge and extract survival loop." The leaked information also claims the game will include a separate campaign.
Reported features include a 72-hour in-game time limit, weapon durability, a safehouse, and the objective of rescuing up to six family members. Players will also encounter wildlife such as wolves, foxes, grizzly bears, and deer. A new enemy faction called the ‘Sons of Truth’ is also mentioned.
Earlier reports suggested Ubisoft was also reworking inventory management and movement systems. It remains unclear how the extraction mode will connect to the main story.
Splinter Cell Remake Reportedly Remains a Linear Stealth Game
The same leak paints a different picture for the Splinter Cell Remake. The leaker claims the project is built on the Snowdrop engine with DirectX 12 support. It will reportedly retain a linear structure instead of becoming an open-world game.
The remake is also believed to expand non-lethal gameplay. Other reported features include dynamic lighting, destructible environments, a light and dark visibility meter, manual alarm systems, sticky cameras, pipe slides, gas grenades, and ziplines.
Rogue also claims the remake is targeting a release between the second quarter (Q2) and Q4 of 2027. The leaker, who previously shared accurate information on Far Cry 7 and XDefiant, described the project as being in a "very fragile" state.
Until Ubisoft comments, however, these details should be treated as unconfirmed reports.
