Rockstar Games has reportedly begun playtesting for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI), marking a key milestone in the game’s development cycle prior to its highly anticipated November 2026 release. According to a LinkedIn post by Rockstar Games’ talent acquisition partner Priyanka Mourya, a recruitment drive for play testers is scheduled for April 18, 2026, in Bangalore.
As per the post, Rockstar India’s Bangalore office is currently hiring for game testers. Though the post doesn’t specify what it is playtesting for, it has sparked speculations that the recruitment drive is related to the upcoming GTA VI title.
The job post has specified that the role requires “knowledge and experience of Rockstar’s recent titles,” along with the ability to test games across various platforms, including current-generation consoles.
Why the Job Post Raised Speculations About GTA VI Playtesting
In early February, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick reaffirmed the launch of GTA VI in November, quelling the doubts surrounding its release date. He also stated that the company was getting closer to marketing beats, reflecting confidence in the game’s development phase.
Now, with Rockstar India hiring for Associate QA Testers, the gaming community is associating the drive with GTA VI. As of late March, GTA VI leaks have shown an expanded worldbuilding and an NPC dialogue system with choices for a 1:1 discussion system.
With the backdrop of GTA VI’s scale and the description of the playtesting project at Bangalore, described as “some of the most rewarding, large-scale creative projects to be found in any entertainment medium,” the anticipation for a significant milestone in the game’s development cycle is rising.
Rockstar and Take-Two have been delaying GTA VI since 2025, which has raised doubts among players about its now-confirmed launch date. However, the probable playtesting at this stage suggests that core systems for GTA VI are largely complete, shifting focus toward refinement.
On the other hand, Rockstar is publishing Remedy Entertainment’s Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes, which are scheduled for a late 2026 or early 2027 launch. The recruitment drive at Rockstar Games’ Bangalore office, therefore, could also be related to the Max Payne remakes. As of this writing, neither Take-Two nor Rockstar has confirmed anything about an impending GTA VI paytesting phase.
