CD Projekt has confirmed that The Witcher 4 will not appear at The Game Awards this year. Co-CEO Michał Nowakowski posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the studio “won’t be bringing any new content to TGA this year,” ending speculation that the game might receive its first trailer during the show.
Nowakowski thanked fans for supporting the game’s Most Anticipated Game nomination, saying their votes “means a lot.” He added that while the team is excited to watch the event, no CD Projekt titles will be showcased beyond the nomination itself.
CDPR Says Witcher 4 is in Full-Scale Production but Not Launching in 2026
The studio has previously confirmed that The Witcher 4 is in full-scale production. In a recent financial Q&A, Nowakowski said CD Projekt is not discussing a release timeline and reiterated that the team is “not launching in 2026.” He noted that development is proceeding according to internal plans and declined sharing technical or design specifics.
In June 2025, CD Projekt released a tech demo showing early visual targets for the project on a base PS5. After some viewers interpreted the footage as a first look at gameplay, the company clarified that it was “a tech demo” showcasing the technology powering the next Witcher entry, not the game itself.
The demo highlighted the studio’s collaboration with Epic Games and its move to Unreal Engine 5 to support new open-world systems.
With The Game Awards off the table, fans will keep waiting for the first real look at the game. The next Witcher entry remains one of the industry’s most-watched titles, and its debut is expected to be a major moment for CD Projekt and the RPG genre.
