Highlights

  • Epic Games’ publishing delay pushes in-island transactions for Fortnite to Jan. 9, 2026, for additional testing and bug fixes.
  • Epic Games’ in-island transactions tool will give Fortnite creators 100% of V-Bucks value on item sales through 2026.
  • UEFN creator growth continues, with strong engagement ahead of the Fortnite in-island transactions 2026 rollout.

Epic Games has moved the launch of in-island transaction publishing for Fortnite creators to Jan. 9, 2026, delaying the rollout to allow more time for testing and bug fixes. The feature was originally planned for Dec. 2025 and will support item sales directly inside creator-built islands.

Fortnite stated on X (formerly Twitter) that the adjustment was necessary “to give us more time for testing and bug fixes before going live to players.” The company added that while the Experimental label will be removed soon, publishing “will not go live until Jan. 9.”

Epic Games' In-Island Transactions Tool Strengthens UEFN Creator Earnings

The system is central to Epic’s expanding Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) ecosystem, enabling developers to publish islands with purchasable items and track revenue through the Creator Portal. Epic previously confirmed that creators will earn 100% of the V-Bucks value on item sales through 2026, after which the program will return to a 50% split.

UEFN creators continue to see strong engagement. Fortnite reported 11.2B play hours across more than 260K creator-made islands, generating over $722M in payouts since the toolset launched. The upcoming transaction tools aim to deepen this participation by giving creators more control over monetization and performance tracking.

Epic Games’ publishing delay signals a focus on reliability before unlocking new revenue features that could shape how Fortnite creators build and sustain their projects.
