BTS sparks India concert rumors amongst fans by mentioning India in their most recent Weverse Live

7 Members, 1 Billion Fans: Will India Finally Get Its BTS Concert?

V’s greeting, Suga spotting a comment on India, Hanumankind’s appearance in Seoul concert, and state-backed festival buzz fuels BTS tour hype, but ARIRANG dates remain doubtful.

  • Repeated shoutouts from BTS in livestreams to HYBE officially entering the Indian market leave fans hopeful for an India concert.
  • Hanumankind’s meeting with HYBE executives and a state-backed festival between South Korea and India indicate a growing path for BTS concerts in India.
  • As India’s live events market booms, the conditions that once deterred global acts like BTS from coming to the country, are quickly vanishing.

A single word, Namaste, had set off a sudden chain reaction from Indian ARMYs on social media last year. That reaction is now being compounded as each word from BTS feels like a new signal from the group about a performance in India, as indicated in their latest live after they initiated their North American run of the tour, each word. Additionally, industry indications also suggest that it is now a matter of time before the band sets foot on the Indian soil. The question now is no longer if India will be getting a BTS concert, but how soon it is going to happen and when.

BTS to Come to India? Suga, Jimin, and J-Hope’s Live Stream Signals So

The latest speculative moment came after BTS finished off their three sold-out shows at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The dates for the show, which were a part of their Arirang World Tour, were scheduled for April 25, 26, and April 28, 2026.

During a post-show Weverse livestream, member Suga spotted a comment where an Indian ARMY urged BTS to come to India. The trio sitting in front of the screen, led by Suga, replied that they would like to visit the country. This small response advanced at a rapid pace across Indian ARMY networks as well as social media, while also joining dots from V’s greeting last December.

"Namaste, Indian ARMYs. See you next year.” V’s words lit up social media platforms and fan speculations in a rapid manner. Although greeting fans from different countries is a common practice amongst idols, V’s greeting came at a very significant time, when the group was preparing for its March 2026 comeback.

The timing of the greeting felt more than courtesy to the Indian fans, as they started to believe that an Indian tour was imminent. BTS had notably cancelled an earlier planned show in Mumbai in 2020, owing to the pandemic, and since the group has not scheduled any kind of commitment in the country.

The Unprecedented Hanumankind Appearance at BTS Seoul Concert

Not long ago, Sooraj Cherukat, better known as Hanumankind, had made an appearance at the BTS’ Goyang concert sparking another set of speculations. He, alongside BookMyShow co-founder Ashish Hemrajani, an influential live-events executive, reportedly met various HYBE executives (mostly affiliated to subsidiaries like BigHit Music, Source Music) and the Chairman Bang Si-hyuk himself.

With such a high-profile presence, the optics were almost impossible to ignore. Hanumakind’s creation, Big Dawgs, has allegedly become a common tune in South Korean nightlife circuits. Additionally, its co-sign from A$AP Rocky proves that it might not be that uncommon for HYBE to tap into an Indian sound that is globally legible, to anchor its market entry into the country. The interaction has led many to believe that India might soon witness a BTS concert with a potential Hanumakind opening act.

Although HYBE is yet to make any confirmations, Hanumankind, in a GQ interview, had talked about the same. When asked about his association with HYBE, he said, "You never know. I'm not denying anything — but I'm not agreeing to anything either." Although nothing of the sort is confirmed, the possibility has not been publicly denied as of yet. The artist described the meeting as “meaningful” while also indicating that he remains open to cross-border collaborations.

Modi, Lee Jae-myung & the 2028 Festival

The most politically significant development came on April 20, 2026, when South Korean President Lee Jae-myung visited New Delhi for bilateral talks with India. At a joint press conference, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recognized the growing popularity of K-pop and K-dramas amongst Indian youth, and announced that the two countries will soon be having a festival slated for 2028.

This has set a frenzy amongst fans and K-culture ecosystems alike. Since BTS has been at the helm of cultural diplomacy, with them representing at the United Nations, and South Korea building nationwide experiences around them, a BTS concert seems possible owing to the strengthening relationship between India and South Korea.

Additionally, the band’s label HYBE has already set up its Indian arm in Mumbai, while launching a localized talent search for an upcoming girl group. The audition will take place across more than 10 cities, including Kolkata, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Guwahati. A HYBE push, coupled with a state-level cultural festival, adds an official tailwind to something that was already in huge commercial demand.

Why India, Why Now?

The question of a BTS India tour has been going around for years; however, the structural arguments for it are stronger than ever. India had reportedly hosted four times as many large-scale concerts in 2024 as it did five years ago. According to EY, India’s organized live events market is set to reach ₹167 billion (~ $2 billion USD) by 2027, at a projected growth rate of 18%. HYBE's physical presence in Mumbai, coupled with its nationwide talent search and the diplomatic deal of Modi and Lee, makes India feel less like an emerging market and more like a prepared one.

Lower ticket prices, as compared to North America and East Asia, had limited India's appeal for high-end global tours with top production. That formula now appears to be shifting, with global artists like Ye (Kanye West) and Coldplay, who are set to tour or have been touring India. This has led to expanding frequency, scaling up of venues, and proper urban planning. And if there is a successful BTS show, it would likely redefine aspects and possibilities of K-pop in the country.

None of this, however, confirms an official tour date. The Arirang World Tour, which includes 85 shows across 34 cities and 23 countries, has announced that nearly all of its dates have been sold out. Although the current list does not include India, fans remain hopeful that further regions could be added for the 2027 slot. Notably, the confirmed regions for the tour next year are the Middle East and Japan. Until a formal announcement arrives, fans will have to watch out for more hints from the group to find out when they will be able to see their favorite idols on-stage in their own country.
