Comic Con India has announced a Pune edition scheduled for Mar 21-22, 2026, expanding the national circuit of the 13th edition of the event. The Pune show will be held at Yash Lawns, Bibvewadi. The event is presented by Maruti Suzuki Arena, in collaboration with the title partner, Crunchyroll, underscoring the increasing convergence of mainstream brands and anime-led pop culture in India.
It is expected that the Pune edition will follow the established Comic Con India format, combining comics, anime, cosplay, gaming showcases, and creator-led programming. The announcement positions Pune as the latest addition to Comic Con India’s expanding city roster, which already includes Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kochi, Guwahati, Jaipur, and Kolkata.
Akshat Rathee, co-founder of Comic Con India, described Pune as a natural next step in the brand’s expansion. In a statement, Rathee said the goal was not just to add another stop, but to create “a way of strengthening that bond with a community that has always shown up loud, proud, and creative.”
Shefali Johnson, CEO at Comic Con India, emphasized that the Pune edition aligns with the company’s broader vision of decentralizing pop-culture experiences beyond traditional metros. She noted that Pune’s mix of students, professionals, and creators makes it a strategic market where fandom, community, and brand intersect.
She emphasized, “We hope Maharashtra’s rich cultural legacy inspires cosplayers to bring Marathi culture and local stories to life in their own unique way,” underscoring the cross-cultural potential of such events.
Comic Con India’s Growth Trajectory and the Pune Edition
Launched in 2011, Comic Con India has steadily grown from a single-city experiment into one of the country’s largest pop-culture event platforms. Like the previous editions, organizers have confirmed appearances of prominent comic artists and pop-culture creators, positioning Comic Con Pune as a fan-facing showcase while being a creator-industry collaboration.
Like the previous edition, Comic Con Pune 2026 is also expected to bring panel sessions, immersive zones (such as Maruti Suzuki Arena), cosplay showcases, gaming arenas (such as NODWIN Gaming Arena), and live entertainment.
Prominent Indian comic artists and publishers, including cartoonist Faisal Mohammed (creator of Garbage Bin), graphic novel brand Indusverse, Savio Mascarenhas (Amar Chitra Katha) and Ravi Raj Ahuja (Bullseye Press), are reported to be present at the event.
Most of Comic Con India’s editions include international guests, but the exact guestlist and brands attending Comic Con Pune 2026 are yet to be announced. Online registration for brand showcasing and volunteering is currently open on the official website. Tickets for Comic Con Pune 2026 are available on District by Zomato, the official ticketing partner, with additional details listed on Comic Con India’s official website.
The announcement follows the strong performance of Comic Con Bengaluru, which had one of the circuit’s highest-footfall in recent years. Bengaluru’s success demonstrated the commercial viability of Comic Con-style events, a landmark that the Pune edition is likely to replicate.
