Fresh off a surprise double-victory at the 98th Academy Awards, Netflix is preparing to take its animated juggernaut KPop Demon Hunters from the living room to the live stage. The streaming giant is currently in negotiations with major concert promoters to launch a massive global K-pop Demon Hunters concert tour, hoping to capitalize on the cultural phenomenon before the arrival of a highly anticipated sequel. The proposed tour aims to hit dozens of major cities across the globe next year, filling massive venues capable of holding between 10,000 and 20,000 fans.
Promoters are already treating the project as a premium, cross-media intellectual property, reportedly offering Netflix tens of millions of dollars in upfront guarantees. However, the exact creative vision for the tour remains actively up in the air, and insiders warn that the ambitious project could be scrapped if it proves too costly or if creative agreements can't be reached.
Netflix, reportedly, is currently debating whether to lean into the animated roots of the film by using virtual performers and holograms, or to center the tour around the real-life vocal trio who brought the movie's fictional group, Huntr/x, to life.
The trio, comprising singers EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami, had never actually performed together live until last year during the film's promotional run. It remains unlikely that the three women would perform at every single tour stop, as per Bloomberg.
Historic Oscar Glory Cements Global Phenomenon
The urgency to launch this tour follows a phenomenal night at the 2026 Academy Awards on March 15, which capped off a dominant awards season for the Sony Pictures Animation production. The film took home the Oscar for Best Animated Feature, while its breakout anthem Golden claimed Best Original Song, marking the first time a K-pop track has ever won an Academy Award.
During the broadcast, the vocal trio also delivered a show-stopping performance of Golden, creatively directed by Mandy Moore, blending traditional Korean drumming with modern pop aesthetics. Co-writer EJAE delivered an emotional acceptance speech for the Best Original Song. While director Maggie Kang celebrated the moment by stating, "This is for Korea and Koreans everywhere."
The music has undeniably been the driving force behind the film's transition from a streaming hit to a global talking point. Before its Oscar glory, Golden made history as the first K-pop song to win a Grammy Award, and it still holds strong in the top 25 on the Spotify global charts.
The movie’s official soundtrack was an absolute powerhouse, placing a staggering eight different songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and finishing last year as the third-best-selling album in the world, according to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry. Music booking agents began pitching promoters on a potential tour last year, eager to seize on the soundtrack's popularity before Netflix even had a finalized plan.

Rewriting Records and Expanding the Franchise
Since its debut in June 2025, KPop Demon Hunters has completely rewritten the record books to become Netflix’s most-watched original movie of all time, amassing over 500 million views worldwide. Its success has opened a floodgate of new business opportunities for the streamer. The film enjoyed a theatrical run a couple of months after its streaming debut, and Netflix has already partnered with two different toymakers to produce consumer products featuring the movie's rival groups, Huntr/x and the Saja Boys.
This momentum arrives as Korean pop music continues to prove itself as a massive global ticket seller, with acts like BTS, BLACKPINK, and Stray Kids regularly selling out stadiums worldwide. Netflix is already leaning into this live-event space, preparing to live-stream the highly anticipated comeback show for BTS on March 21.
For fans of KPop Demon Hunters, the future looks incredibly bright. Earlier this month, Netflix announced a multiyear writing and directing partnership with Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, confirming they will return to direct the upcoming sequel.
