Highlights

  • JUJUTSU KAISEN: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death – The Movie is streaming on Crunchyroll with subtitle and dub options.
  • The film retells the Hidden Inventory arc from Jujutsu Kaisen season 2, covering Gojo and Geto's school years.
  • It adds no new story but took in an estimated $9 million worldwide during a staggered theatrical run.

Crunchyroll said June 5 that JUJUTSU KAISEN: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death – The Movie is now streaming, more than a year after the film opened in Japanese theaters. It is available in Japanese with subtitles in several languages and in English, German and Spanish dubs.

The movie is not original theatrical work. It compiles the first five episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen's second season, which aired in July 2023, and reached Japanese theaters on May 30, 2025. It opened at No. 4, selling about 138,000 tickets for roughly $1.36 million over its first three days.

GKIDS handled the U.S. release on July 16 and 17, where the film took in about $2.55 million across the two days, ranking No. 4 and then No. 5. It then rolled out market by market, including South Korea, Vietnam, the U.K. and Australia, for an estimated $9 million worldwide. Box-office totals for the run are estimates and vary by source.

JUJUTSU KAISEN: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death – The Movie: Plot and what the release adds

The roughly 110-minute cut adapts the "Hidden Inventory / Premature Death" arc, set during Gojo Satoru's high-school years.

Gojo and Geto, then teenage sorcerers, are assigned to protect Riko Amanai, the Star Plasma Vessel. The Jujutsu Kaisen arc also introduces Toji Fushiguro and Yu Haibara.

The mission ends with Gojo awakening the Six Eyes and Limitless after a fatal fight with Toji, the father of Megumi Fushiguro. Riko dies, and the loss splits Gojo and Geto, the rupture that drives the main series.

Because it is a compilation, the film adds no new scenes. MAPPA and Toho Animation remixed the audio for theaters and included an acoustic version of Tatsuya Kitani's opening theme, "Ao no Sumika" (Where Our Blue Is). The original song peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 and topped the chart's download and streaming tallies during the season's run.

Watched in sequence, Hidden Inventory works as a lead-in to Jujutsu Kaisen 0, letting the Gojo-Geto fallout and its aftermath play without episode breaks.

The release widens Crunchyroll's Jujutsu Kaisen library, which already holds the TV anime and the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 film. Season 3, The Culling Game Part 1, aired from January to March, and season 4 was confirmed on March 26. The streaming arrival gives both long-time viewers and newcomers a way to revisit the events behind the franchise's central conflict.
