The Mob Psycho 100 anime franchise has unveiled a brand-new animated short as part of its 10th anniversary celebrations, Mob Psycho 100 Anime 10th Anniversary Event: Reunion. The short premiered at the event, held in Japan on July 12, at the Fukagawa Mirai Hall in Saitama.
The new Mob Psycho 100 short featured Shigeo (Mob), Reigen, Dimple, and Tome, giving fans fresh content nearly four years after the TV anime concluded in 2022. The commemorative video was set in the Spiritual Consultation Office, with the narrative following an incident involving Reigen, and is currently streaming online.
An anniversary illustration featuring Mob and Reigen has also arrived from Yoshimichi Kameda, the original character designer for the Mob Psycho 100 anime series, on July 12.
Mob Psycho 100 10th Anniversary Short Reunites Original Production Team
The newly revealed Mob Psycho 100 reunited its core production members. Franchise director Yuzuru Tachikawa served as the short’s director, technical director, writer, and storyboarder. Kameda worked as the animation director for the production.
Kameda expressed his enthusiasm in a statement and talked about how the production team emulated the visual style of the original production despite the anime ending long ago.
The four voice cast for the characters also reprised their roles in the short, including Ito Setsuo as Mob and Sakurai Takahiro as Reigen Arataka. The short does not continue or expand any main story arcs, but serves as a commemorative project celebrating the franchise’s legacy spanning a decade.
Mob Psycho 100 10th Anniversary projects began on May 12, coinciding with Mob’s birthday, and celebrations continue beyond the short. Crunchyroll Anime Nights will hold a monthly theatrical event celebrating the anniversary on July 20 across the US and Canada, screening five episodes chosen by fans. The tickets are currently available at Fandango.
The anime adapted ONE’s manga, serialized from 2012 to 2017, in Shogakukan's MangaONE. Produced by BONES, the adaptation received widespread critical acclaim for blending high-action sequences with character-driven themes surrounding adolescence, self-worth, and emotional growth of the characters.
