God of War Laufey: Everything You Need to Know

God of War Laufey pre-orders open Sep 29 at 10 am local time, ahead of its Feb 16, 2027, release on PlayStation 5 (PS5). Santa Monica Studio announced the details on Sep 28, alongside new information about Faye’s combat abilities, equipment system, and the Everywhen.

Grace Orlady, Communications Director at Santa Monica Studio, noted that the team was “excited to announce” the pre-order rollout. The studio also shared new screenshots and footage of Faye in combat, following the game’s reveal in June 2026.

God of War Laufey’s Faye Combat System Explained

Faye’s Serpent Bow is an enchanted weapon that can rapidly shift between dormant and notched forms. It lets her combine ranged attacks with close-quarters combat through two aiming methods.

A full press of the aim trigger activates Precision mode, increasing accuracy and draw distance. Faye can target specific parts of enemies to impair their movement or ability to attack, creating openings for melee strikes. She can also charge the bow and stack up to five arrows for a powerful volley, including against enemies launched into the air by Phranque.

A half press activates hip-fire mode, allowing Faye to remain mobile while firing clusters of arrows at close range. The bow supports rapid-fire, explosive, and multi-target arrow types, while its quick-fire attacks can juggle airborne enemies and extend combos as she switches between weapons and abilities.

Serpent Scales change the bow’s appearance and provide unique perks. Unlockable skills can further expand its capabilities, including the Dark Alchemy Bow Scales included with the Digital Deluxe Edition.

Players who pre-order before launch will receive:

Faye’s Equipment and Customization Explained

Faye’s armor offers different gameplay stats, perks, and appearances. Her other equipment can also be customized through the Blade, Scales, and Catalyst systems.

The Blade is a customizable element of Faye’s sword, while Scales modify the Serpent Bow. Catalysts are powerful artifacts that channel the magic of the Everywhen, with different effects available to support different playstyles.

Santa Monica Studio also teased more glimpses of the Everywhen and said further God of War Laufey information will be shared before launch.
