Highlights

  • Overwatch x NieR: Automata crossover brings YoRHa-inspired skins to multiple heroes this season.
  • Lifeweaver, Kiriko, Mercy, Vendetta, and Wuyang are confirmed to receive themed cosmetics.
  • This follows major past collaborations like Persona 5, Diablo, and Warcraft, expanding Overwatch’s crossover roster.

Blizzard has officially revealed the first look at the upcoming Overwatch x NieR: Automata crossover, confirming that new themed cosmetics are on the way. The reveal came via a short teaser video that showcased several heroes receiving YoRHa-inspired redesigns as part of the collaboration. Titled Project YoRHa, the event is set to begin on March 10, bringing one of gaming’s most recognizable sci-fi aesthetics into Blizzard’s hero shooter.

Overwatch Nier Automata Skins Confirmed so Far

The teaser highlighted multiple heroes who will receive crossover skins inspired by NieR: Automata’s signature design language.

The characters confirmed to receive themed cosmetics include:

  • Lifeweaver
  • Vendetta
  • Wuyang
  • Kiriko
  • Mercy

Kiriko, Vendetta, and Wuyang will get skins for NieR: Automata protagonists 2B, A2, and 9S, respectively. The other characters will get skins inspired by NieR’s supporting cast.

The introduction of YoRHa-themed skins represents one of the more stylistically aligned crossovers for Overwatch in recent years. Both franchises share a strong emphasis on character-driven identity and futuristic combat design.

This is not the first major collab with a gaming franchise for Overwatch. Blizzard has increasingly leaned into crossover cosmetics to expand the game’s visual identity beyond its original universe. One of the most notable recent examples was the Overwatch x Persona 5 collaboration, which brought Phantom Thieves-inspired skins to the roster and marked one of the game’s biggest anime-styled crossovers.

Earlier, Blizzard also introduced cosmetics tied to its own legacy titles, including Diablo and World of Warcraft, giving heroes armor and visual themes drawn from those universes. Beyond franchise tie-ins, Overwatch has experimented with stylized event skins inspired by mecha, K-pop, and other pop culture influences.

The Overwatch NieR: Automata crossover will officially begin when Project YoRHa goes live. Collaboration events typically include limited-time challenges and earnable cosmetics.

More details are expected as the launch date approaches. For now, the confirmation of multiple hero skins suggests the collaboration will be one of the larger cosmetic drops tied to Overwatch’s soft relaunch in 2026.
