Highlights

  • Sony revealed its first PlayStation-branded 27-inch monitor at State of Play Japan.
  • It features QHD resolution, 120Hz VRR and Auto HDR for PS5.
  • The monitor is scheduled for a 2026 launch, initially in the US and Japan, with pricing unannounced.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has officially entered the monitor market, unveiling its first-ever PlayStation-branded display during the State of Play Japan presentation on November 11, 2025. This new 27-inch monitor is designed from the ground up to be the perfect desktop partner for the PlayStation 5, packing console-specific features and a unique design, including a clever built-in charging hook for the DualSense controller. The reveal was a major hardware surprise during the 40-minute showcase, which also featured other major game announcements.

At the heart of the new display is its seamless integration with the PS5. The monitor features Auto HDR Tone Mapping, which allows a PS5 or PS5 Pro console to instantly recognize the screen and automatically optimize its HDR settings. This means players get vivid colours and crucial details in bright and dark scenes without fumbling through manual adjustments.

Specs, Performance, and a Dual Charging Hook

The monitor sports a Quad High Definition (QHD) IPS display with a 2560x1440 resolution. When it comes to performance, it fully supports Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) for smooth, tear-free gameplay, running at up to 120Hz on the PS5. When connected to a compatible PC or Mac, that refresh rate will get a significant boost to an impressive 240Hz.

One of the most practical touches is the built-in charging hook, designed to hold and charge either a standard DualSense or the high-end DualSense Edge controller. This hook is located on the back, next to the ports, and can be rotated and stowed away to keep setups tidy.

For connectivity, the monitor is well-equipped, featuring two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4 port, two USB-A ports, and a USB-C port, which is handy for PlayStation Link adapters. The monitor also includes built-in stereo speakers and a 3.5mm audio jack for headphones.

While the monitor was a standout hardware reveal, the State of Play Japan was packed with game news. The presentation, which focused on titles from Japanese and Asian studios, also gave players a look at the major Elden Ring Nightreign DLC, new closed beta dates for Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls, and the confirmation that the Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake will launch on March 12, 2026.

Gamers will have to wait a bit to get their hands on this new screen, as Sony has confirmed a 2026 launch window. However, availability will initially be limited to the United States and Japan. The company has not yet announced an official price or a release date for other regions like India or Europe.

For context, similar QHD monitors with high refresh rates, such as the Samsung Odyssey G6, typically retail in the $300-$400 range, though this official PlayStation model's final price remains to be seen.
