Xbox Game Pass: 9 Games Confirmed, May 2026 Upcoming Schedule
Xbox Game Pass May 2026 games feature Forza Horizon 6 in Japan and Subnautica 2, alongside a price cut for Ultimate subscribers under CEO Asha Sharma.
Highlights
- Forza Horizon 6 headlines May 2026 with a day-one launch set in Japan on May 19.
- Nine titles arrive this month, including Subnautica 2 and the Final Fantasy V pixel remaster.
- Xbox CEO Asha Sharma lowered Game Pass Ultimate to $22.99, removing day-one Call of Duty access.
Xbox Game Pass subscribers have a lot to look forward to this May, with a stacked lineup of new arrivals headed to the service. After a turbulent few months of structural changes and pricing adjustments, Microsoft is steadying the ship and kicking things into high gear. At least nine titles have been confirmed for May 2026 so far, featuring an incredible mix of highly anticipated first-party blockbusters, day-one indies, and a beloved classic RPG.
Out of the games confirmed for the month, a whopping eight are brand-new, day-one releases. As usual, these day-one drops will be exclusive to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers. While those on lower tiers won't get the bulk of the brand-new releases, the premium tier is still getting some serious love, proving that Game Pass remains fiercely dedicated to its month-to-month value without the full buy-in cost.

Here are the games heading to Xbox Game Pass in May 2026:
Final Fantasy V (May 5)
This beloved classic joins the library as a pixel remaster, bringing its timeless JRPG action and deep, strategic job systems to modern platforms. It is confirmed to be available on the Premium tier of Xbox Game Pass.
Mixtape (May 7)
Players can check out this narrative-driven Xbox indie that focuses on the emotional journey of music and memories.
Call of the Elder Gods (May 12)
Arriving right before the mid-month rush, this title promises to deliver Lovecraftian RPG chills to keep players occupied.

Xbox Wire
Forza Horizon 6 (May 19)
Serving as the undisputed headliner of the month, this critically-acclaimed open-world racing game from Playground Games brings players to the breathtaking, highly requested landscapes of Japan with over 550 real-world cars. It launches as a massive day-one title across Xbox Series X|S, PC, and the cloud.
Beastro (May 21)
Dropping just after Forza, this new addition keeps the momentum going and adds even more flavor to the back half of May. In this cozy "town-to-table" deck-building RPG, you play as a chef named Panko who must farm, forage, and cook magical meals to power up the brave heroes fighting to protect your village.
Echo Generation 2 (May 27)
This voxel-based adventure is officially slated to launch on the service, bringing exciting, retro-inspired day-one indie action to subscribers.

Steam
Crashout Crew (May 28)
Players looking for a more frantic experience can jump right into the chaotic multiplayer action of this brand-new release. Gather your friends and engage in fast-paced, physics-based arena brawls where unpredictable power-ups and fully destructible environments.
Subnautica 2 (TBA May)
Diving in as a massive day-one early access hit, this title expands the beloved underwater survival series with deep-sea exploration and terrifying new horrors.
RV There Yet? (TBA May)
This quirky road-trip simulator promises a highly unique journey for gamers looking for something a bit more unconventional.
Game Pass Ultimate Price Reversal & Structural Changes
These exciting upcoming additions arrive during a highly transformative period for the Xbox ecosystem and its community. The end of 2025 saw Microsoft announce a significant price hike for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. The move triggered massive subscriber backlash, as per GameRant.
Fortunately, newly appointed Xbox CEO Asha Sharma quickly stepped in to course-correct the situation. She walked back the Ultimate price increase, bringing the monthly cost down by about $7 to a much more manageable $22.99. This pivot did come with a slight trade-off: future Call of Duty titles will no longer be day-one additions, and subscribers can instead expect entries in the blockbuster franchise to hit the service roughly a year after their initial launch.
In the meantime, you don't have to wait until May to get your hands on some great games. Wrapping up the April 2026 slate, the sci-fi adventure Aphelion from developer Don't Nod joins Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on April 28, followed by the action-packed shooter Trepang2 on April 29. The month closes out strong on April 30 with Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era, Sledding Game, and TerraTech Legion all making their way to the service.
