Takeru Hokazono’s hit shonen Kagurabachi is expected to return from hiatus in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #35, according to early magazine information. Following Comicbook.com’s July 14 report, Weekly Shonen Jump’s reliable news trackers @WSJ_manga reported the update on X on July 16.
Viz Media’s digital Shonen Jump schedule now lists the manga’s next chapter for Monday, July 27, corresponding to Issue #35 of the magazine’s 2026 run. Kagurabachi manga was released up to chapter 125, following Shueisha’s announcement of a temporary hiatus on June 16.
At that time, the publisher informed that Kagurabachi would return in August, without mentioning a specific date. Hokazono added his own note stating, “I'll be taking a small break,” and asked fans to wait while he refined the story during the hiatus.
The recent update from VIZ, Comicbook.com, and WSJ_manga indicates that the series resumes serialization earlier than Shueisha’s previous timeline. However, an official confirmation from Shueisha and its Manga Plus is due, as of writing.
Kagurabachi Manga is One of Weekly Shonen Jump’s Fastest-Growing Modern Shonens
Kagurabachi manga follows Chihiro Rokuhira, the son of a legendary swordsmith murdered at the hands of the Hishaku organization. Following his father’s death, Chihiro begins his revenge journey against Hishaku and tries to restore the six stolen Enchanted Blades.
The hiatus arrived mid-arc, as the story unpacks the Seitei War’s history and the Soga clan’s role in forging the Enchanted Blades. Kagurabachi manga is available on the MANGA Plus platform and Viz Media till chapter 125.
Serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since September 2023, the manga has spanned across 11 volumes as of May 2026, compiling manga chapters up to chapter 101. Kagurabachi has also surpassed 4M copies in circulation worldwide by April 2026, up from 3M in October 2025.
The manga had 2.2M copies in circulation as of May 2025, highlighting its rapid sales growth over the past year that has made it one of Shueisha’s standout recent launches. CyPic’s anime adaptation based on the manga is also currently in development, with a launch date of April 2027.
Production has already launched the Kagurabachi Anime World Tour, with advance screenings of the first 20 minutes of Episode 1 taking place at major anime conventions across North America and Europe. Kagurabachi anime kicked off the global promotional tour on July 3 at Anime Expo in Los Angeles with a packed and energetic audience. Following the screening, several posts across social media highlighted Kagurabachi’s cinematic audio-visual storytelling and high-action animation sequences.
