Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway 2 Lands on Netflix This August

Netflix has confirmed that Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe will begin streaming globally on Aug 31, 2026, bringing the second installment of the Hathaway film trilogy to its subscribers. The announcement was made through Netflix Anime’s official X channel with an English-dubbed trailer on Aug 4.

Directed by Shukou Murase and produced by Sunrise Studios under Bandai Namco Filmworks, The Sorcery of Nymph Circe premiered in Japan on Jan 30, 2026, before expanding to North American theaters in May. The movie opened at No. 1 at the Japanese box office that weekend, earning about ¥849 million (~$5.43 million USD) in its first three days. 

The sequel earned about $18.42M at the global box office, slightly below the 2021 Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway film, which grossed $18.76M worldwide. However, The Sorcery of Nymph Circe outperformed its predecessor in Japanese box office revenue.

The Sorcery of Nymph Circe Follows Hathaway’s Conflict With the Federation 

The Hathaway film trilogy follows Yoshiyuki Tomino’s Hathaway’s Flash novels. In an interview with Forbes, director Murase said he followed his “own original style,” thinking that if he was “to imitate Tomino’s style, it probably wouldn't go well.”  

Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe follows Hathaway Noa as he wavers between his feelings for Gigi and his mission with the anti-Federation group MAFTY. While preparing for the Adelaide Conference, Hathaway faces mounting military pressure, pushing the story deeper into the political and moral themes that define the Universal Century saga. 

The film sits within Gundam’s Universal Century timeline and draws on events from Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack. Murase also said at that interview that The Sorcery of Nymph Circe tracks the anime continuity closely, tying Hathaway’s storyline back to that earlier movie.

With The Sorcery of Nymph Circe arriving in August, Netflix continues to broaden its Gundam library, which now includes multiple entries from across the franchise.

The expanded lineup also complements Netflix’s ongoing work on a live-action Gundam feature, which is being developed in partnership with Bandai Namco Filmworks and Legendary Entertainment. The project has completed its primary production, as per some reports, and is moving towards post-production.

The addition of The Sorcery of Nymph Circe reflects the streamer’s strategy of strengthening its anime catalog with established franchises. Alongside new seasonal anime, Netflix has increasingly focused on securing long-running anime IPs such as One Piece, Case Closed (Detective Conan), and Gundam, balancing new originals with high-profile licensed releases.
