Toho Animation released the first official trailer for "My Hero Academia: More" on April 25, 2026, one week before the special epilogue episode's broadcast premiere on May 2. Officially designated Episode 170+1, the episode picks up eight years after the conclusion of the heroes' battle with All for One.

"My Hero Academia: More" adapts chapter 431 from Kohei Horikoshi's manga, an epilogue bundled with Volume 42, the manga's final collected volume. Volume 42 reached one million copies in circulation within a week of its December 2024 release in Japan, making "My Hero Academia" the fourth manga series to hit that mark in a single volume's debut week, after "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba," "Attack on Titan," and "One Piece."

The trailer arrives under Toho's My Hero Academia The Animation 10th Anniversary campaign, a year-long initiative that includes exhibitions, merchandise, retrospective promotions in Japan, and a U.S. concert tour scheduled to begin September 12.

The trailer points to a character-driven story focused on Class 1-A after the conclusion of the main arc. Early footage emphasizes lighter beats, including the class reunion eight years on, rather than large-scale conflict. It features grown-up versions of Deku, Katsuki Bakugo, Eijiro Kirishima, Shoto Todoroki, Ochaco Uraraka, and Tenya Iida, alongside a silhouette of the villain Himiko Toga, whose storyline carries particular weight for Uraraka. Deku now teaches at U.A. High School.

Production continues at Bones Film, the studio behind the franchise's eighth and final season. The episode is directed by Naomi Nakayama under chief director Kenji Nagasaki, with Yosuke Kuroda on series composition, character designs by Yoshihiko Umakoshi and Hitomi Odashima, and music by Yuki Hayashi. The primary voice cast returns.

Where to Watch My Hero Academia: More

In Japan, Episode 170+1 airs at 5:30 PM JST on May 2 across Yomiuri TV, Nippon TV, and 29 affiliated stations. Crunchyroll will stream the episode globally outside Asia following the Japanese broadcast.

The original "My Hero Academia" anime is also available on U-NEXT, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, ABEMA Premium, and Netflix. Whether these platforms will carry the new episode has not been confirmed; Crunchyroll is the only streamer Toho has named so far.

Toho Animation is also running a free streaming event on its official YouTube channel through August 31, releasing seasons 1 through 3 with subtitles in seven languages: English, French, Spanish (Latin America), Spanish (Spain), German, Portuguese, and Italian.

The final season earned 15 nominations at the 2026 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, including Anime of the Year. The May 23 ceremony falls three weeks after the "More" premiere, positioning the special as a capstone to the broadcast run and a launch point for the anniversary year's commercial slate from Toho and Shueisha.
