Highlights

  • Tougen Anki manga has exceeded 6M copies in circulation, achieving the milestone shortly after the release of Volume 30.
  • To celebrate, publisher Akita Shoten launched a major promotional campaign across Ikebukuro Station and Animate stores.
  • The achievement comes ahead of TV anime Tougen Anki season 2 release in October 2026.

Tougen Anki manga has surpassed 6M copies in cumulative circulation, publisher Akita Shoten announced July 13. The milestone lands after the release of the manga’s volume 30 on July 8, marking six years since Yuuki Urushihara’s series began serialization in Weekly Shonen Champion in 2020.

Akita Shoten has launched a station advertisement initiative at Ikebukuro station, one of the popular Otaku hubs in Tokyo, from July 13 to 26. Ten pillars along the Azalea Road will display 18 characters from Tougen Anki manga’s Oni (demon) and Momotaro factions.

The pillars are designed under the theme Back-to-Back Justice! In addition, a companion AR campaign, featuring character panels, has begun on the same day across 16 Animate stores nationwide. Fans can scan a featured QR code on their phones to enjoy an immersive ‘ability effects’ pop-up.

The Tougen Anki AR campaign also includes a survey, which offers exclusive character wallpapers to participants. The campaign across stores, including outlets in Sapporo, Yokohama, Osaka and Sendai, will run till October 10.

Tougen Anki Reaches the Milestone Ahead of the Anime’s Season 2

Tougen Anki manga’s 6M milestone comes roughly three months before the TV anime’s second season premiere in October 2026. The second season, termed a sequel, covers the Nikko Kegon Falls Arc from the manga, which spans roughly 74 chapters.

The second season was greenlit in December 2025, timed with the final release of Tougen Anki: Dark Demon of Paradise anime season. The series premise follows a folklore involving the Momotaro clan and the Oni factions, who possess demon-blood.

The premise has helped it stand out in a Weekly Shonen Champion lineup built around long-running action titles like Baki. Apart from Baki, the magazine has produced global hits before, including Paru Itagaki’s Beastars, which crossed 7.5M copies by October 2021 after the second season of its anime adaptation premiered on Netflix and expanded its audience abroad.
