A new Free Fire India teaser has appeared nearly three years after Garena postponed the game's original Indian launch. Leaker @Esports360igc posted on X: “FREE FIRE INDIA” with “Coming Soon” on Sep 29, 2026, while highlighting the phrase “Accessible anywhere anytime” from the game's description.
The post does not include a release date, and Garena has not announced one.
However, the timing has drawn attention to the official Google Play listing, which was updated on Sep 24, 2026, and remains available under the package ID com.garena.game.ffi, with Garena International III listed as the developer.
Garena’s Plans for Free Fire India
Garena originally planned to launch Free Fire India on Sep 5, 2023, before postponing the release shortly before the scheduled date. The company has not publicly provided a replacement date or fully explained the continued delay.
The project was announced as an India-specific version of Free Fire, with plans for localized infrastructure, player-safety features, and local data storage. Garena had also partnered with Yotta to support its local infrastructure and data requirements.
Reports have suggested a possible launch before the end of 2026, but those reports remain unconfirmed. The Sep 29 reports therefore provide a new indication of activity around the project without establishing a launch timeline.
What the Free Fire India Listing Reveals

The TEZ Free Fire MAX India Cup (FFMIC) 2026 Fall concluded at Noida Indoor Stadium on Sep 27, 2026. Team Apex Gaming won the INR 1 Cr tournament through Champion Rush, with Resurrection Esports second and TSG Pros third.
Apex received INR 35L, Resurrection INR 17L, and TSG Pros INR 7L. Apex's KD won the Grand Finals MVP award and an additional INR 1.5L.

FFMIC Fall Sends Three Indian Teams to FFWS 2026
The FFMIC Fall result also secured India's three places at the Free Fire World Series (FFWS) 2026 Global Finals in Bangkok.
Resurrection finished the Grand Finals with the highest conventional score at 151 points, followed by Apex Gaming with 149 and TSG Pros with 146. Clutza Esports finished fourth with 134.
The Champion Rush format, however, determined the tournament champion. Resurrection reached the 110-point threshold first in Match 6. TSG Pros, Clutza Esports, and iQOO OGxTE subsequently entered the Champion Rush race, while Apex reached the threshold in Match 8.
Apex then won the decisive 4v4 battle in Match 9 after securing the required Booyah, taking the championship despite finishing second in the conventional points table.
The victory continued the same roster's FFMIC run after the lineup won the spring edition as Team HIND. The players later competed under the Apex Gaming banner and had already represented India at the Free Fire World Cup earlier in 2026.
The three teams will now compete at the FFWS 2026 Global Finals.
The event is scheduled for Nov 6 - 28 and features an expanded 24-team field, compared with the previous 18-team format. The competition includes the Knockout Stage, Last Chance phase, and a 12-team Grand Finals on Nov 28 under the theme “Reach Your Prime.”
Altogether, the latest reports have brought Free Fire India back into focus, but the game's long-delayed launch still depends on an official update from Garena.
