My Hero Academia Production Committee has announced a new short animated film focused on Eri, titled I Am a Hero Too, expanding My Hero Academia's (MHA) 10th anniversary project lineup. The announcement follows the release of the More episode on May 2, which adapts Chapter 431 of Kohei Horikoshi's MHA manga.
I Am a Hero Too is based on a one-shot manga, included in My Hero Academia Ultra Age, the official MHA fanbook, created by Horikoshi and published in December 2024. As mentioned, the narrative focuses on Eri, the orphan, Deku (Izuku Midoriya), and Lemiliion (Mirio Togata) rescued during Kai Chisaki or Overhaul’s arrest.

The Eri one-shot was not included in the More episode’s narrative because of a time gap. The guidebook was released on May 2, 2025, creating a 5-year timeline gap that the new short animation now addresses
What is the Significance of MHA Special I Am a Hero Too?
The short animation special, I Am a Hero Too, will center on Eri’s high school days. The narrative reveals Eri has become a talented musician preparing for her official debut, with Kyoka Jiro serving as her mentor.
I Am a Hero Too is set a few years after the final battle with ‘All for One’ in the original MHA anime. In the story, Eri's horn has grown back after she gifted it to Deku to heal his grave injuries.
While it's a one-shot adaptation, Eri's character arc carries particular weight within the franchise. She was experimented on and tortured repeatedly to produce Quirk-Destroying Drugs, a central theme within MHA’s narrative.
Following Eri’s rescue and arrival at U.A. High School, the series largely moved away from her arc, prioritizing the narrative conflict involving the League of Villains and Tomura Shigaraki. The special animated film will provide a much-needed closure to Eri’s character arc and be a part of the My Hero Academia Anime 10th Anniversary Project.
The 10th Anniversary Project is a deliberate strategy to lengthen the franchise’s lifecycle after the original anime series concluded in 2025. Among multiple projects tied to the celebration, My Hero Academia in Concert world tour is scheduled to launch at Pacifico Yokohama on May 30, 2026.
