  • Raw Fury officially confirms that Blue Prince was created entirely without artificial intelligence.
  • The statement addresses false accusations regarding AI-generated art following a controversy at the Indie Game Awards.
  • Developer Dogubomb emphasizes the game's strict adherence to human craftsmanship.

Publisher Raw Fury has officially confirmed that the puzzle-adventure game Blue Prince was created entirely without the use of artificial intelligence, describing the project as the product of "human instinct" and an eight-year development cycle. The statement comes as a direct response to recent speculation regarding the game's production methods following a shake-up at the Indie Game Awards and specific accusations that the title contained AI-generated art in its final build.

The clarification became necessary after Blue Prince unexpectedly found itself at the center of a heated industry-wide debate concerning generative AI. The controversy gained traction after the original winner of the Indie Game Awards, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, was disqualified because its developers admitted to using generative AI, violating strict eligibility rules.

Amidst this scrutiny, and following Larian Studios' separate admission of using AI for ideation, an article from The Escapist suggested generative AI was used in "Blue Prince" and remained in the final product. The publication has since edited the article.

Blue Prince Built on Human Instinct

Raw Fury addressed the rumors directly on the social media platform X on Dec 21, 2025, firmly shutting down claims that the game utilized generative AI. The publisher emphasized the long-term dedication of the game’s developer, Dogubomb, and its creator, Tonda Ros.

In their public statement, Raw Fury clarified that there is no AI used in Blue Prince and that the game was built and crafted with full human instinct by Tonda Ros and his team. The publisher further noted that the game is the result of eight years of development fueled by imagination and creativity, expressing extreme pride in the human craftsmanship achieved by the development team.

Released in early 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, Blue Prince is a genre-defying strategy mystery game that challenges players to draft and navigate an ever-changing architectural floor plan. Players step into the role of Simon, who must explore the mysterious Mt. Holly manor to locate the elusive Room 46.

Raw Fury maintains that these intricate designs and atmospheric storytelling elements are the result of meticulous human effort rather than automated generation. The incident highlights the growing scrutiny placed on game developers regarding the use of AI tools in creative workflows as the industry moves toward 2026.

While some studios have begun to adopt these technologies for asset creation or ideation, others, like Dogubomb, are distinguishing themselves by adhering to traditional, human-led processes. The clearance of Blue Prince underscores the rising demand for transparency in the sector, especially as AI disclosures begin to shape perceptions surrounding major accolades like the Gamer 2025 Game of the Year.
