SuperGaming Raises $15M Series B to Fuel Global Expansion
Highlights
SuperGaming raised $15M in Series B funding at a $100M valuation from multiple investors.
The round includes both fresh capital and interim investments made since the company's $5.5 million funding in October 2021.
The company plans a global launch of Indus Battle Royale starting with Latin America via partnership with Loud.gg, while also scaling development, hiring, and creating new IPs.
Pune-based SuperGaming secured $15 million in Series B funding to expand its "Indus Battle Royale" game internationally and develop its artificial intelligence-powered gaming platform, the company said Tuesday.
The funding round was led by existing investor Skycatcher and new investor Steadview Capital, valuing SuperGaming at $100 million. Other participants included venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz's a16z Speedrun fund, Japanese gaming giant Bandai Namco's 021 Fund, and Brazilian esports organization Loud.gg.
The round includes both fresh capital and interim investments made since the company's $5.5 million funding in October 2021. The investment represents a bet on India's growing role in global game development. SuperGaming plans to use the capital to expand Indus Battle Royale in Latin America through its partnership with Loud.gg, hire international talent and enhance its SuperPlatform technology.
"This investment fuels [India's] transition from a consumer market to a driving force in innovation," said Roby John, SuperGaming's chief executive.
Launched in October, Indus Battle Royale is set in a futuristic world inspired by Indian culture and the ancient Indus Valley Civilization. The mobile game has generated nine million downloads across Google Play and Apple's App Store, according to the company.
The title competes in the crowded battle royale genre alongside established players like Epic Games' Fortnite and Tencent Holdings' PUBG Mobile. SuperGaming is betting that its Indian cultural themes and locally relevant content will help it stand out in both domestic and international markets.
The company's SuperPlatform offers game development tools powered by artificial intelligence and built on Google Cloud infrastructure. The platform includes analytics, monetization features and social systems for live-service games.
"India is the fastest growing gaming market globally, and from that will emerge the next global giants in gaming," said Sia Kamalie, founder of Skycatcher.
SuperGaming is also exploring Web3 gaming through a partnership with B3 GameChain, a blockchain network built on Coinbase's Base platform. The company operates titles for both traditional and blockchain-based gaming audiences, including Silly Royale on its own Layer-3 blockchain network.
