- 13th edition of the city’s biggest pop-culture event
- Over 50,000 fans and 5,000+ cosplayers attended last year
India's technology capital will welcome tens of thousands of comic book fans, gamers and cosplay enthusiasts as Comic Con India returns to Bengaluru for its 13th edition on December 20-21 at KTPO in Whitefield.
The event reflects Bengaluru's distinctive blend of technology and entertainment culture. "Only here can you find a coder debugging all week and then showing up on the weekend dressed as Darth Vader," said Akshat Rathee, co-founder and managing director of NODWIN Gaming, which organizes gaming competitions at the convention. "This city mixes work and play like no other."
The Bengaluru edition is part of Comic Con India's expanding footprint across the country, with events now spanning eight cities and drawing more than 200,000 attendees annually since the franchise launched in 2011. The network includes gatherings in Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Kolkata.
Global and Local Talent Take Center Stage
This year's programming features international comic creators alongside India's growing roster of homegrown studios. Previous editions have hosted American comic writers Ron Marz and Jamal Igle, while Indian publishers including Raj Comics, Amar Chitra Katha, and newer entrants like Sufi Comics and Indusverse have showcased local storytelling traditions.
Entertainment extends beyond comics to include stand-up comedy performances from Rahul Subramanian, Azeem Banatwalla, Rohan Joshi and Varun Thakur in past years.
The convention's 40,000-square-foot gaming zone hosts daily tournaments and features popular streamers, while virtual reality installations range from space exploration themes inspired by India's Chandrayaan lunar missions to superhero experiences and movie tie-ins.
Cosplay remains a central attraction, with participants embodying characters from global franchises like Doctor Strange, Batman and Star Wars alongside distinctly Indian comic figures including Suppandi and Chacha Chaudhary. Last year's event drew more than 50,000 attendees, including over 5,000 cosplayers.
Shefali Johnson, CEO of Comic Con India, said, “Fans here don’t just come to watch, they come to build, share, and celebrate together. That’s why Bengaluru Comic Con feels like a festival woven into the city’s own culture of ideas and innovation.”
