  • Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle - Akaza Sairai returns to North American theaters in March 2026.
  • Distribution partner SPE introduces the 270-degree SCREENX experience for the re-release.
  • Infinity Castle remains one of anime’s highest-grossing theatrical successes.

Crunchyroll has announced Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba — The Movie: Infinity Castle will return to theaters in the United States and Canada on March 6, 2026. Crunchyroll’s move, in collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) will significantly expand the theatrical life of this record-breaking anime movie.

As per Aniplex’s announcement, the distribution partners are bringing SCREENX multi-projection screens for the first time in North America for the Infinity Castle re-release. SCREENX is a 270-degree panoramic projection format that expands movies on the side walls of the theater, providing an immersive experience.

Despite being part of an ongoing anime series and not a standalone movie, the movie became a revenue driver. Infinity Castle’s domestic and international performance earned $732.2 million USD from its initial release. With the expanded format and re-release, the film is expected to generate another box-office haul.

SPE and Crunchyroll haven’t disclosed how many theaters will screen the movie yet. Globally, only 370 theaters facilitate the SCREENX format.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Movie Trilogy

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle - Akaza Sairai is the first movie of a trilogy, designed to conclude the adaptation of Koyoharu Gotouge’s Demon Slayer manga. The movie continues the narrative after the conclusion of the Hashira Training arc.

The first Infinity Castle movie is now the highest-earning traditional anime film of all time, and one of the highest-grossing Japanese films globally. The movie also contributed to driving Japan’s box office up by 32% in 2025.

The movie became a cultural phenomenon that proved the economic viability of Japanese anime movies in theaters. Following its international success, niche anime movies such as Reze Arc and Scarlet, and even compilation films like Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution, received expansive international release schedules.

As the anticipation of the next Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle movie increases, with reports anticipating a 2027 release date, Sony and Crunchyroll aim to translate that hype into commercial success with the re-release. However, no probable release date has officially been announced. In Ufotable's latest post, the animation studio responsible for the Demon Slayer franchise, said a new announcement would arrive on Feb 21, 2026, at 6:00 pm JST.
