Structured Care of JYP Backed by Employee Volunteership
The program initially began with strategic MoUs with four major domestic hospitals to help young patients who are unable to access or afford intensive treatment. Apart from the financial relief for parents, the initiative depends heavily on a hands-on culture of service. In the last six years, 1,046 volunteers, including JYP employees, artists, and trainees, invested 2,454 hours in the cause. Through this dedication, the volunteers have also created 423 specialized children’s books since 2022.
Beyond Funding: Measurable Emotional Impact Amongst Beneficiaries
The impact of JYP’s EDM program is calculated in more than just currency; it is showcased in the psychological resilience of the beneficiaries of the program. JYP Entertainment reported a 74% increase in patients' eagerness to undergo treatment. Additionally, a survey of 315 children backed by the program showcased that their career visions strengthened by 78%, while their sense of selflessness and desire to give back to society grew roughly by 87%.
“We have witnessed an impact that goes beyond just numbers and figures,” said JYP CEO Jeong Wook, as cited by the Korea JoongAng Daily. He highlighted the agency’s goal to sustain a “virtuous cycle,” guaranteeing the love received from fans is pivoted towards a direction that helps the next generation to safely dream of their futures.
K-pop Scale Meets Social Welfare Legacy
Founded in 1997 by singer Park Jin-young, who is now serving as the co-chair of the Popular Culture Exchange Committee, JYP Entertainment remains a giant of the K-pop industry.
