Highlights

  • iQOO SouL delivered a comeback performance to claim the BMSD 2026 title.
  • The Hyderabad event featured passionate fan moments and an unexpected match rehost.
  • Goblin reflected on the championship and his career milestone in an Outlook Respawn interview.

iQOO SouL won the Battlegrounds Mobile India Showdown (BMSD) 2026 after finishing the Grand Finals with 155 points across 18 matches at the Savaaya Convention in Gandipet, Hyderabad, on Oct. 18, 2026. The team secured qualification for the PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2026 after winning the tournament.

The victory came after a tense final day in which iQOO SouL entered the competition trailing the leader by 28 points. Its late push, followed by the outcome of the final matches, delivered the title under the tournament’s Smash Rule.

Likewise, Gladiators Esports finished second with 141 points, while Team 8Bit placed third with 140.

The result gave iQOO SouL its second major domestic BGMI title of the season after winning the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2026. It also made the team one of the central talking points at an event marked by packed stands, fan posters, team merchandise, and loud support for competing rosters.

How Did iQOO SouL Pull Off the BMSD 2026 Win?

The Grand Finals took place from Oct. 16 to 18, with 16 teams playing six matches each day. The daily map order featured one match on Rondo, three on Erangel, and two on Miramar.

iQOO SouL recorded two Winner Winner Chicken Dinners (WWCDs), 52 placement points, and 103 eliminations. Its elimination tally was the highest among the Grand Finals teams.

The final day used the Smash Rule, which set the Match Point target at 10 points above the leading team’s score after Match 12. Team 8Bit led at that stage with 116 points, putting the target at 126. A team reaching the threshold became Match Point Eligible and needed to win a subsequent match to claim the title.

If no eligible team won a later match by Match 18, the team with the highest overall points would win.

iQOO SouL’s 13-finish chicken dinner in Match 14 took it past the 126-point threshold. However, no eligible team won a subsequent match. Version1 x Blue Army won the final two matches, including Match 18, but ended the tournament seventh with 122 points.

With the fallback rule deciding the championship on total points, iQOO SouL finished on top with 155. The comeback was particularly notable given the deficit the team faced entering the final day.

BMSD 2026 Crowd Energy and Fan Moments

The Hyderabad venue became a meeting point for BGMI fans, with supporters wearing team colors, holding posters, and cheering during player walkouts and match broadcasts. The event floor included team booths, a trophy display, fan areas, and sponsor activations.

The crowd’s support was visible in the fan posters and signs displayed during the event.

Some fans turned up in support of Team Apex Gaming, while iQOO SouL also drew attention from supporters in the stands. One fan displayed an orange-painted “TAG” sign, while another carried a “Legend” poster featuring Jonathan.

The players also gave fans moments to remember away from the matches.

Jonathan, who co-founded Team Apex Gaming in April 2026 after spending more than four years at GodLike Esports, mimed throwing a grenade at his teammates during the team’s walkout. Team Outrage’s Omega was seen adjusting his desk fan, Team SouL’s Joker gave a thumbs-up, and Team 8Bit’s Sarang discussed strategy between matches.

Other moments included Version1 x Blue Army’s Punk concentrating at his station and Nebula Esports in-game leader Aaddiii celebrating. The Google Play zone and Monster Energy booth added to the event atmosphere, with the latter featuring a countdown display.

The broadcast featured English commentator iSuperJonny, caster Nekrou, whose name is Neeraj Sangle, analyst Icybaby, whose name is Terence Yong, and host Rohit Varghese. Grand Finals coverage was available in Hindi and English through the KRAFTON India Esports YouTube channel.

What Happened During the BMSD 2026 Match 5 Rehost?

The first day of the Grand Finals faced a controversy when Match 5 was rehosted.

GodLike Esports, Revenant XSpark (RNTX), Myth Official, and Version1 x Blue Army reportedly had their player IDs in the lobby, but their players were not on stage. The respective squads did not join the match as expected.

Match 5 was the first Miramar game of the day, following one Rondo match and three Erangel matches. K9 Esports eliminated the four inactive squads and recorded 16 finishes before KRAFTON India rehosted the match. The original result was canceled, removing K9’s finishes from the standings.

Since each elimination was worth one point, the rehost removed at least 16 elimination points from K9’s original result, excluding any placement points. K9 had won Match 1 and held third place with 40 points after Match 3, behind Blitz Epigrotive Gaming on 50 and Team Outrage on 42.

The decision also gave the four affected teams another opportunity to score in the match. GodLike had entered the Grand Finals after topping the Semi Finals standings, while Revenant XSpark had qualified directly from the qualifiers. Version1 x Blue Army was also affected.

However, KRAFTON India had not publicly explained the circumstances that led to the rehost. When asked, the explanation cited human error and technical issues, which have also occurred at international esports events.

In his interview with Outlook Respawn, Goblin reflected on the significance of iQOO SouL’s BMSD victory and compared it with the team’s BGIS 2026 result. He described the win as a “foreshadowing of the next one,” pointing to the similar sequence of domestic championship success.

The comparison placed the BMSD result in the context of the team’s season rather than treating it as an isolated win.
