Netflix Annecy 2026 Showcases Including The One Piece Remake Anime
Netflix Will Debut The One Piece Anime Footage at Annecy 2026
WIT Studio's remake of One Piece anime heads to Annecy, eight months before its 2027 global debut on Netflix.
Highlights
- Netflix will debut the first footage of The One Piece anime remake at Annecy 2026 in June.
- Produced by WIT Studio, the series reimagines Eiichiro Oda’s manga from the East Blue saga with modern animation standards.
- The preview anchors Netflix’s broader Annecy slate, including THE RIBBON HERO and Blue Eye Samurai season 2.
Netflix will unveil the first public screening of The One Piece, its upcoming anime remake of Eiichiro Oda’s long-running pirate franchise, at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. The One Piece preview is part of the dedicated anime panel, Netflix Anime: Bold Stories, Boundless Worlds, at La Salle de la Volière on June 23, 2026.
The company furthers the offering with additional footage appearing in Next on Netflix Animation showcase on June 24 at Théâtre Bonlieu. On both days, The One Piece will be presented alongside Netflix's broader Annecy lineup, featuring titles such as The Ribbon Hero, Charlie vs. the Chocolate Factory, and Ghostbusters.
Netflix describes The One Piece series as “a brand new anime adaptation starting from the very beginning of the original manga's East Blue saga,” which differs from Toei’s previous long-form adaptation structure and format. WIT Studio, known for early seasons of Attack on Titan (AoT) and Netflix-backed titles like Spy x Family, is overseeing the animation.
WIT Studio President George Wada has said the new production targets the quality of the studio's late-night anime offerings, such as AoT, and aims to introduce One Piece to a new audience. Unveiling The One Piece at Annecy 2026, one of the largest anime film festivals, positions the upcoming series as a prestige animation.
Full Netflix Annecy 2026 Showcase Including The One Piece and Blue Eye Samurai
The One Piece sneak peek is the anchor of a larger Netflix anime program at Annecy 2026. The June 23 Netflix Anime: Bold Stories, Boundless Worlds panel will also feature exclusive looks at Kyoto Animation’s Sparks of Tomorrow and Bass X Machina.
The festival's Annecy Presents segment will world premiere the highly anticipated Netflix and Twin Engine’s anime film The Ribbon Hero. The movie is inspired by Osamu Tezuka’s classic shojo manga Princess Knight.
Additionally, Netflix will reveal the second season of “anime-inspired series” Blue Eye Samurai. Following the June 23 session, the showcase on June 24 includes Ghostbusters and Brad Bird's Ray Gunn. Along with special screenings, the showcase will also include filmmaking insights from “visionary director Brad Bird.”
Additionally, the streamer will celebrate KPop Demon Hunters’ first anniversary with an outdoor sing-along screening. Selected episodes from Netflix’s Love, Death + Robots, Sparks of Tomorrow, and Long Story Short are competing in Annecy’s Official TV Films Competition.
For Netflix’s upcoming series, an Annecy preview carries institutional weight and solidifies its status as prestige animation. The festival's affiliated MIFA animation market functions as a platform for production financing, licensing deals, and international co-production partnerships featuring a network of roughly 3K animation industry professionals. Annecy is also a collaborative partner of the Cannes Film Festival, where it organizes the exclusive Cannes Animation program.
