  • Roblox will now let all IP owners self-manage licenses.
  • IPs to appear in a creator catalog for ease of choosing.
  • Popular games of IPs like Squid Game show strong engagement and revenue potential.

On November 11, 2025, Roblox declared that all IP owners can now use its License Manager tool to handle licenses on their own. The tool will allow rights holders to immediately register their IP on the platform. It will also enable them to choose the terms of licensing, including income share, which is usually between 10% to 25%.

Roblox’s new approach will also enlist the IPs in a catalog where creators can browse and apply to use those licenses to create experiences. Making things easier for rights holders, this decision replaces a more labor-intensive, negotiation-heavy, manual procedure.

This License Manager tool was initially launched in July 2025 in partnership with companies such as Netflix, Lionsgate, Sega, and Kodansha. Since then, the company has received over 1,500 requests for licenses from creators.

Since then, franchises including Squid Game, Twilight, Saw, Blue Lock, and Now You See Me have also been used to create experiences. Squid Game IP (developed by Mr Ducky Studio) and Blue Lock: Rivals (developed by Pocket Lobster) have over 1.6 million favorites and 4 billion visitors, respectively.

Roblox License Manager: What Is The Company’s Aim?

Roblox's License Manager supports its objective of attaining 10% of the world's game content revenue. Through this, creators and companies can explore new revenue streams, while engaging with players more deeply, and delivering prompt experiences.

As a result, IP holders can collaborate directly with creators while adhering to licensing and verification regulations, owing to their 151.5 million daily active users. However, aligning IPs with the appropriate creators while managing brand risks is essential for success.

With this framework, Roblox initiates a structural change in the creation and monetization of interactive content, giving itself a direct route to Gen Z, while enabling creators to make a legal living beyond bootleg adaptations.
